Sony Music is pleased to announce the digital output on November 1, 2011 for the soundtrack of my week with Marilyn (a CD will be available later this month). The film, about a week in the life of the legendary Marilyn Monroe, has a star-studded cast.
The film debut of director Simon Curtis, is based on the books of Colin Clark (played by Eddie Redmayne), who as an assistant on the set of The Prince and the Showgirl in the summer of 1956 gave Monroe (Michelle Williams) an introduction to British life. Monroe was actually on his honeymoon with playwright Arthur Miller (Daugry Scott), but when Miller had to leave the country, Clark was his companion on a flight a week from the pressure of life as a leading Hollywood . Kenneth Branagh plays the role of Laurence Olivier, star of the other great Prince and the Showgirl, and characteristics of high-caliber cast (in supporting roles), Judi Dench, Derek Jacobi and Zoe Wanamaker.
The major themes of a film of life, Marilyn Monroe complicated emotional and 1950 Great Britain to provide material for a soundtrack irresistible diverse and entertaining. The score was written by Conrad Pope, one of the leading U.S. arrangers, conductors and composers of film music. His most recent credits include work in three Star Wars movies, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean Star Trek X, the movie Matrix, Memoirs of a Geisha. "The motto of Marilyn" was contributed by Alexandre Desplat, who won a Golden Globe (The Painted Veil, 2006) and a British Academy Award Film (The King's Speech, 2011) and author of many compositions French and Hollywood films like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Fantastic Mr. Fox and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
As if those credentials do not recommendation enough for this soundtrack, a great piano Lang Lang, runs like a thread through the whole story, and - almost goes without saying, when Marilyn Monroe is at the center of attention - there are some classic songs: "Autumn Leaves", Nat King Cole Medley "When love goes wrong," and "Heat Wave", and Michelle Williams sings "That Old Black Magic" as the title song of the final closing five minutes of the film.
My Week With Marilyn was Premieres the New York Film Festival, October 9, 2011. It 'was Pinewood Studios in England - the Director Curtis was still able to use the same studio where Monroe served as the Prince and the Showgirl in 1956 - a medieval Saltwood Castle, family home of Colin Clark, the upper classes, and offices in and around London. Just as the visual sequences to transport the listener back for more than 50 years, the music, this is an excellent evocation of mood and sound of mid-1950, the window of the past and moving tribute to an icon of tragic films .
